Working with developmentally disabled adults. Making sure individuals get employed through paid internship programs.
Downtown Crenshaw Rising is a community organization led by residents that work in collaboration to acquire land to then develop projects that reflect the community vision. Their current conflict to purchase the Crenshaw Mall led them to be clients for the UCLA Planning Department. The final toolkit, C3, is a holistic planning assessment for the Crenshaw District as it relates to the housing, social economy, transportation, environmental equity, and political needs of the community.
I was directly responsible for researching the environmental vulnerabilities of the community as they relate to the vacant land and blighted industries. Also, a majority of my research explored how the economic development of the community could be galvanized through cooperatives and private partners.
